Virginia â€œCatherineâ€ Dooley Spradlin, 95, of Bedford, died Friday Jan. 22, 2016. Catherine was born in Bedford, June 8, 1920, a daughter of the late Oscar Wright Dooley and Pearl Wilson Trent Dooley. Catherine was a member of Suck Springs Baptist Church. She was a homemaker that always loved and cared for her family. Catherine was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Richard Leeland Spradlin; son, Richard Eugene Spradlin; twin brother, Charlie H. Dooley; brother, John P. Dooley and sister, Frances Dooley Carter. Catherine is survived by two daughters, Mary Lee Spradlin Nance, Dianne Spradlin Nichols and husband Mike; two sisters, Mae Bennett, Doris Bowyer and husband Eugene; grandchildren, Wanda Carter and husband, Johnny; Tony Spradlin and wife, Jennie; Ricky Spradlin and wife Brenda; and Sherry Chavis and husband, Mario; five great â€"grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Ann Spradlin; and numerous other family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016 at Virginia Memorial Park with Rev. Jerry Parr and Rev. Michael Cox officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm., Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016 at Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Main Street Location, 317 W. Main Street, Bedford, VA.
