W. Ray Stinnette, 86 of Huddleston, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. He fought a good fight. He was born on Saturday, March 20, 1926 in Bedford County, a son of the late Cleveland Guy Stinnette and Mamie Elizabeth (Mae) Kirby Stinnette. He was also preceded in death by his much beloved wife of thirty-five years, (his "gentle flower"), Nancy Marie Holland Stinnette and a brother, Clarence Glen (C.G.) Stinnette. He was a lifelong farmer. Ray was also a lifelong member of Pecks Baptist Church, where he taught and served as a deacon for many years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a talented musician. He also enjoyed making things with his hands. Surviving is his daughter, Sherry Creasy and husband, Marvin of Huddleston; two sons, Terry Ray Stinnette and wife, Mena, Perry Lynn Stinnette and wife, Jan, all of Huddleston; six grandchildren, Randall Creasy, Stephen Stinnette and wife, Abbey, Jacob Stinnette and wife, Victoria, Justin, Leeza and Jordan Stinnette; a great-grandson, Ryan Stinnette. Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 11 am at Pecks Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Sheehan officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
