William Bernard Alphin, 74, of Gainesville, Florida and formerly of Montvale, died on Sunday, February 4, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, William L. Alphin and Mildred Garrett Alphin. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carol Ellen L. Alphin; daughter, Valeria Alphin Dame and her husband, Michael L. Dame; brother, Richard Alphin and his wife, Nancy; sister, May A. Dean and her husband, Jimmy; sisters-in-law, Ella France Lam, Alice Stewart and her husband, George Stewart; brother-in-law, Gaylon Lam and his wife, Carol; sisters-in-law, Joan Lam and Bessie Lam; and several nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Montvale High School Class of 1962 and wasemployed by Double Envelope Inc. for 53 years. He loved to play golf and make homemade clocks and lived in Gainesville, Florida for 43 years. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Oakey’s East Chapel with Pastor Robert Auxierofficiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Union Church Cemetery in Montvale. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral. Arrangements by Oakey’s East Chapel, 540-977-3909.
