William Jackson "Bill" Witt, 90 of Bedford, passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2014 at Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Sunday, July 27, 1924 in Bedford County, a son of the late James Corbett Witt and Ethel Ferrell Witt. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Leighton Witt and a grandson, Terry W. Witt. He was retired from Lionberger Construction, was a member of the Bedford Moose #1897, the Ponderosa Club, VFW Post #2157, Elks Lodge #321 and Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He also served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. Surviving are his sons, David Russell Witt and wife, Kathy, Stephen Ronald Witt and wife, Linda, Bobby Jackson Witt all of Bedford, daughter, Vickie Diane Zechini and husband, Lamont of Forest; grandchildren, Michael Ford, Kelly Witt, Tanya Stinnett, Brandon Webster; great-grandchildren, Anna Ford, Whitney Ford, Ty Stinnett and Audrey Stinnett. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Greenwood Cemetery on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 at 11 am with Pastor Phillip Kelley officiating. Military honors will be offered by American Legion Post #16. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
