William Nylen “Billy” Manley, 85, of Big Island, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in Bedford County Nursing Home. Born April 18, 1929 in Bedford County, a son of the late Sidney Terrell Manley and Evelyn Pearl Goff Manley. Billy was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Billy loved the outdoors, farming, gardening, fencing, animals and going to the stock market. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 45years, Margaret Marie Campbell Manley; three stepsons, C.V. Morehead and his wife, Carolyn, Don Morehead and his wife, Carolyn, and Larry Morehead and his wife, Roxane; five grandchildren, Jody Morehead and wife, Heather, Christy Campbell and her husband, William, Charlene High and her husband, Jimmy, Chad Morehead and his wife, Sammie, and Chelsea Jones and her husband, Travis; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lester Manley and his wife, Betsy and Ernest “Peter” Manley and his wife, Dana; one sister, Nancy Ragland and her husband, David; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of Billy’s life was conducted at 11 AM, Friday, April 25, 2014 at Hunting Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Cary C. Snellings officiating.
