William Stohr, Jr, 80, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at his residence. Born on August 24, 1932 in Darby, PA, a son of the late William Stohr, Sr. and Mary Lee Stohr. In addition to his parents William was preceded in death by his sister, Molly S. Desmond. William served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a retired technician for E.I. DuPont Company. For the past 30 years, William thoroughly enjoyed and took great pride in working and designing his dream home here in Virginia. He also enjoyed landscaping and storytelling. He was known for his great sense of humor. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Beverly Jane Barr Stohr; two sons, Lee Stohr of Staunton, VA and Robert W. Stohr of Bedford; one daughter, Lynda Stohr of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren, Steven Robert Stohr and Brandon Stohr; one great-grandson, Steven Robert Stohr, III. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bedford Hospice Care, 1621 Whitfield Drive, Bedford, VA 24523. A celebration of Williamâ€™s life will be conducted at 2:00pm on, Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Chaplin Mark Flores officiating.
