Willie Anderson Johnson, 85, of Bedford, died Monday in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born in Bedford on Aug. 8, 1927 a son of the late Levi Johnson and Katie Rhodes Johnson. He was retired from Piedmont Label and was a member of Lighthouse Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Joseph B. Johnson and Nellie Carter Johnson; his brothers, Claude Johnson, James (Jim) Johnson and Joseph B. Johnson; his sisters, Minnie J. Powell, Alice J. Wolford; Ruth J. Bowles, Mary J. Jordan and Lillie J. Smith; adopted sister, Helen Lacy; adopted brothers, Tommy Johnson and Richard Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Hunziker and husband, Don; his granddaughter, Amber Hunziker; his brother, Ray Johnson and wife, Peggy; his special exchange student grandchildren, Elina Penner, Elias Safwenberg and Isis Machado; and good friend, Chris Burch. Willie loved his God, his family, his church, fishing, walking and making his rounds around Bedford giving candy to his girlfriends and any children he came across. Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Freewill Baptist Church, 942 Burks Hill Rd. Bedford, Va 24523. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lighthouse Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Ross officiating. Burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford, 540-586-7360.
