Edward Richard Manck, 91, of Bedford died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Baldwin, Long Island, NY on Sept. 23, 1921 a son of the late William Manck and Anna Ketterer Manck. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, William Manck. Ed was a Group Underwriter for MetLife for 41 years and was a member of Thaxton Baptist Church. Ed was also a member of the Silver Notes, a singing group who sang in churches and nursing homes were he played the saxophone. He served our country in the Air Force 34th Photo Recon Squadon during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Julie Brunner Manck; three children, Richard Manck, Ken Manck and wife, Christine; Nancy Kartowski and husband, Robert; four grandchildren, Rebecca Cullop and husband, Geoff, Christian Manck, Matthew and Nicole Kartowski; nephew, William Manck and wife Barbara of Seffner, FL; twin nieces, Joan Canto, Jane Colgan and husband Ed all of Slidell, LA; several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Edâ€™s Life was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at Thaxton Baptist Church with Dr. Eldridge Cullum officiating. Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford, 540-586-7360.
