Frank T. Thomas, 93, Montvale On Dec. 27, 2012, Heavenâ€™s Gate opened wide to welcome a true Hero, Frank Tyler (Buster or Buck) Thomas, 93, of Montvale. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific Theater, a retired truck driver with Jones Motor Lines, and a retired School Bus Driver with the Bedford County Schools. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ave Thomas; step-mother, Mamie Thomas; brother, O. L. Thomas; sister, Virginia Anders; and a special aunt, Ida Turner. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hazel M. Thomas; four children and spouses, James Thomas, Donna Thomas, Teresa Andrews, Darrell Thomas; nine grandchildren including a special caregiver, Billi Jo Asbury; 17 great grandchildren including his best buddy, Dylan Fink; two sisters, Irene Webster, Beverlyne Prillaman; and numerous nieces and nephews including Jerry, Barry, and Benny Webster. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses on the 10th floor of the Palliative Care Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospitalfor the care given to Frank and his family. A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at Oakeyâ€™s East Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Moore officiating. Interment will followed in the Prillaman Family Cemeteryin Callaway with Military Honors by the U. S. Navy. Arrangements by Oakeyâ€™s East Chapel, 540-977-3909.
