Gordon C. Larson

Obituary
The Guest Book is expired.

Gordon Clemence Larson, 84, of Moneta, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord, April 3, 2014. He was the devoted partner of Joyce Puller. Born Jan. 20, 1930, in Kulm, North Dakota, he was the son of the late Gustav Adolph Larson and the late Armida Johnson Larson. He was preceded in death by his first wife Tonnie Villepigue Larson and his second wife Sheila Wattington Larson. An engineer for fifty years, he had a gift for inventing things to make life easier for so many of us who knew him. He was a charter member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg, and enjoyed singing bass in the choirs of St. Andrew’s and Trinity Ecumenical churches. He had a love for astronomy, science, woodworking, metal working, weaving, kayaking, and music. All who knew him appreciated his dry wit; while he was a man of few words, when he spoke, others listened. In addition to his partner Joyce Puller, he is survived by his brothers Waldo, Erick and Denvy Larson and his sister Jeannette Hood. He is also survived by his son Jeffrey Larson and wife Carol; his son Gregory Larson; his daughter Victoria Kavanagh and husband Michael; and his son David Larson and wife Xiaoxia. In addition, he is survived by his granddaughters Jennifer Roberts, Hannah Gaitten, Melanie Hoffman, and Emma Kavenagh; and grandsons Hugh Kavanagh, Julius Larson, and Michael Larson; and great-granddaughters Noah Gaitten , Naomi Gaitten and Sophie Hoffman. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 11 AM at Trinity Ecumenical Parrish in Moneta, Virginia. Condolences may be sent online at tharpfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford, (540) 586-3443.
