Adams, Joseph E. - Opelika  
Joseph Adams Joseph Edward Adams, 84, of Opelika, Ala., passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015, at his home. Joseph was born June 6, 1931, in Paducah, Ky. The family moved to East St. Louis, Ill. when he was 12 years old. He was a Korean War Veteran and was proud to have served in the U.S. Army (Signal Corps). Joe was also a member of the American Legion. He had a tremendous love for our country and actively promoted patriotism. He became a resident of Caseyville, Ill., in 1975; and remained there until 2013, when he relocated to Opelika, Ala. He was an active member of the Greenmount Road Church of Christ in Belleville, Ill., and since moving to Alabama, The Church that meets at Cunningham Road in Opelika. Joe continued to be a great worker and good servant in the kingdom of God until his death. He was the Owner/Supervisor of BesTesT, Inc., an alcohol breath testing business that operated in Caseyville for 28 years. Joe had a passion for playing softball and working the New York Times Crossword Puzzles. He played softball through age 69, when his knees impeded his ability to play. He enjoyed game nights with friends and relatives over the years, and loved good, clean jokes; he loved to laugh. When anyone asked Joe how he was doing on any given day, his response was always, "Great!" Married to his devoted wife for 53 years, he was a loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Always a wonderful inspiration to his family and friends, he was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed. Joe was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Keith Adams; his parents, Bennie B. and Myrtle, nee Shelton, Adams; and a brother, Elton Eugene Adams. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lee Adams of Opelika, Ala.; daughter, Teresa Lee Foshee (Alvin) of Sharpsburg, Ga.; granddaughters, Amber Nicole Dale (John), Courtney Rashell Flores (David); Tabitha Lauren Trammell (Todd); nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews. Andres, Dean - New Athens  
Dean Andres Dean G. Andres, 88, of New Athens, Ill., born June 23, 1927, in Mascoutah, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill. Mr. Andres honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy at the latter part of World War II. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after being a letter carrier for 30 years. As a child, Dean spent time at the clubhouse on the Kaskaskia River with his parents and brother, Vernon. Upon his father's passing, he became the owner of the clubhouse grounds. The clubhouses brought him a lifetime of joy and pride. But above all, he will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Mr. Andres was preceded in death by his parents, George and Aurelia, nee Weiss, Andres; his stepmother, Viola Andres; a daughter, Kathy "Susie" Andres; sister and brother-in-law, Stella and Ray Telford; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Peggy Martin; and brother-in-law, James Farrell. Surviving are his wife of 64 and a half years, Doris, nee Martin, Andres whom he married on Feb. 3, 1951, in Piggott, Ark.; a brother, Vernon (Gloria) Andres of Mascoutah, Ill.; two daughters, Nancy (Guy) Kasper of Freeburg, Ill., and Cheryl (Rick) Gerlach of Fairview Heights, Ill.; a son, Ronald Andres of New Athens, Ill.; six grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda) Andres, Carly (Jesse) Petri, Kelli (Josh) Shoulders, Joseph and Kevin Andres, and Andrew (Katie) Kasper; five great-grandchildren, Logan and Jace Shoulders, Brooke and Caroline Andres and Harper Petri; sisters-in-law, Linda (Richard) Sanders of Freeburg, Ill., Janice (Carl) Zotz of New Baden, Ill., and Cindy (Paul) Schanz of Mascoutah, Ill.; and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to Heartland Hospice, 333 Salem Place, Suite 150, Fairview Heights, Ill. 62208.
