Schrage, Dorothy F. - Aviston  
Dorothy Schrage Dorothy F. Schrage, 85, of Aviston, Ill., born February 27, 1930, in Aviston, Ill., entered into rest Monday, March 23, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland, Ill. Mrs. Schrage worked at the Machine Headquarters at Scott AFB for 19 years and she also worked at State Bank, Aviston, Ill. She was a member of St. Francis Parish and Ladies Sodality, the American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary, Aviston, Ill., and St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Breese, Ill. Her favorite job was being a homemaker and mother for 58 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Schrage, whom she married November 15, 1955, in Aviston, Ill., and who preceded her August 29, 2002; her parents, Herman and Anna, nee Timmermann, Feldmann; two sisters, Lucille A. Feldmann and Mary Feldmann; a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Alice and Ferd Zurliene, and Jim Billhartz. Surviving are her children, Steve (Theresa) Schrage, Tom (Deb) Schrage, Terry (Patti) Schrage, and Chuck (fianc‚e Mary Mazeka) Schrage, all of Aviston, Ill., and Susie (partner Julie Martin) Schrage of Worden, Ill.; six grandchildren, Travis (Jaime) Schrage, Clint (Jenna) Schrage, Tyler (Jessica) Schrage, Cole (special friend, Cortney Crocker) Schrage, Brittany (Adam) Davenroy, and Samantha (Kyle) Heimann; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry (Mary Lou) Feldmann of Aviston, Ill.; a sister, Antoinette Feldmann of Aviston, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Rita Billhartz of Belleville, Ill. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to St. Francis Parish or the Aviston American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary, and will be received at the funeral home. Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Hempen-Nordike Funeral Home, Aviston, Ill. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. and the Aviston Legion Auxiliary will have a walk though at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Funeral: Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Aviston, Ill., with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Barbara Schwertmann Barbara Schwertmann, 80, of Granite City, Ill., born December 17, 1934, in Granite City, Ill., passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center, Edwardsville, Ill. Barbara was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She was a Past PTA President at Webster School. Barbara was a member of Senior Circle at Gateway Medical Center, Senior Citizens at Chouteau Township, and a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader. Barbara was always fascinated by hummingbirds. She was also an accomplished artist, and was a professional roller skater at Stopkotte. She loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. Barbara will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ruby, nee Riggs, Voss Sr.; a sister, Effie Lou Humphreys; and three brothers, Bethel "Bud' Voss, Earl Voss Jr., and Larry Voss. Surviving are her devoted husband of 52 years, Frank Schwertmann Sr., the love of her life, whom she married June 30, 1962, in Granite City, Ill.; two loving children, Joanie (Rex) Buckingham of Edwardsville, Ill., and Frank (Theresa) Schwertmann Jr. of Glen Carbon, Ill.; her twin brother, Billy Voss; two sisters, Gertrude "Jane" Kaucher and Donna McIlvoy; proud grandmother to Mandy (Josh) Heil, Trent (Jess) Buckingham, John Schwertmann, Justin Schwertmann, Lacey Buckingham, Krystal Ringling and Brandon Ringling; and proud great-grandmother to Jaden Heil, Hailey Buckingham and Ryker Buckingham; extended family and many dear friends. Roy Sehnert Roy C. "Kimmel" Sehnert, 91, of Belleville, Ill., formerly of Red Bud, IL, born December 19, 1923, on the family farm near Red Bud, Ill., died Sunday, March 22, 2015, at the BRIA Nursing Center, Belleville, Ill. Mr. Sehnert was a welder at a stove factory in Belleville before his retirement. He was an avid walker and made many friends in Belleville on his daily treks. His quick smile and hearty laugh will be missed by his family and his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Alice M., nee Gies, Sehnert; three brothers, Edgar, Sylvester, and Victor Sehnert; and a sister, Hilda McNamee. Surviving are two nieces, Mary J. McNamee (Kieth) Simmons and Alice (David) Dworzack; and a nephew, Owen G. (Mary Beth) McNamee. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 20 Glory Place, Belleville, Ill., 62226.
