Carole Cummings Carole D. Cummings, nee Barger, 78, of Collinsville, Ill., born Jan. 21, 1938 in East St. Louis, Ill., died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill. Carole worked as a program analyst from Air Mobility Command at Scott AFB. She was born and raised in East St. Louis and helped in the family business of the Barger Chicken Farm. She loved music and was a former organist at many local Catholic churches. Carole was our loving mom and grandma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester O. Cummings; her parents, E. John and Cleava F., nee Wagoner, Barger; her sisters, Dolores (Oliver) Starks and Judith Barger; her brother-in-law, Harry Gorazd; and her niece, Robyn Starks. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Jo Cummings-Frain of Troy, Ill.; her granddaughter, Amanda Frain and her fiance, Nickolas Hiatt of Troy, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Leila and Jackson Hiatt; her sister, Virginia "Dee" Gorazd of O'Fallon, Ill.; her nieces and nephews, Jean Starks Hurst, Sandra Gorazd Dugan, Stephen Gorazd and Kimberly Wells Cherry; and six great-nieces and nephews. Mary Ann Dahlmann Mary Ann Dahlmann, 75, of Alton, Ill., formerly of Belleville, Ill., born Oct. 14, 1940, in Belleville, Ill., died Friday, May 20, 2016, at her residence. Mary Ann was employed by U.S. Steel in Granite City, Ill., before her retirement. A member of the 1958 graduating class of Notre Dame Academy in Belleville, Ill., she was a kind and gentle soul with many friends who enjoyed her company. She loved her God and prayed that she would never be a burden to the people in her world. Mary Ann enjoyed her family and appreciated all the holiday gatherings. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Edwardsville, Ill. Miss Dahlmann was preceded in death by her parents, William J. Sr. and Sophia, nee Moessinger, Dahlmann; and two brothers and two sisters-in-law, William J. Jr. (Kathryn) Dahlmann, and Robert C. (Laverna "Dee") Dahlmann. Surviving are her sister, Helen Marie (Roy) Kloess of Belleville, Ill.; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins; friends, Robin and Jack Hake; and close friend and caregiver, Darlene Croft. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Darlene Croft and to Hospice of Southern Illinois for their kind and gentle care of Mary Ann. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Dutko, Frank - Phoenix  
Frank Dutko Frank Dutko, 88, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Madison, Ill., born in 1933, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 19, 2016. Frank and his wife Sara moved to Phoenix in 1996 to be with children and grandchildren. Frank Dutko joined the Madison Police Department in 1950 and was promoted through the ranks to Chief of Police in 1970 to 1977. He was the first officer in the quad city area to have a police dog (Sir Kelly) which pressed into service for six years. Frank ran the first radar unit, and helped to develop a gun range in the basement of the police dept. He was the first chief in Madison to set up a one man patrol system and through government grants purchased numerous new equipment for the department and set up various reporting systems. He established the first detective division. Upon retirement from the police force, Frank served on City council as an elected Alderman. In 1980, worked as an investigator in the state attorney's office when appointed to Madison County Board. He served 12 years on the county board, on five different committees. While serving as a board member, he also worked as a security guard for Granite City Steel and retired in 1996. Following his move to Arizona, Frank kept in regular contact with the activity in the City and County of Madison through friends and various organizations. He was a member of the Southern Illinois Police Chiefs Association (which Frank was a founding member), Illinois Police Association, Madison County Police Association, Illinois Police Benevolent and Madison Amvet Post 204 Club (since 1952). Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Sara, together they raised six children. He was also preceded in death by his son, Frank Dutko; daughter, Robin Newman; parents, Anna and Michael Dutko; and siblings, Kelly Dutko, John Dutko, Mike Dutko and Howard Dutko. Surviving are his four children, Cindy (Steve) Altman, Kelly (Bob) Pinnell, Becky Dutko and adopted Cindy (Dave) Baczewski; a son-in-law, Tom Newman; seven grandchildren, Kelly Horobec, Ryan (Taylor) Pinnell, Jamie (Drew) Kabo, Hayley Newman, Drew (Kasey) Pinnell, Emily Baczewski and Alex Altman; three great-grandchildren, Zoe Pinnell, Rylee Kabo and Dylan Pinnell; sisters, Mary Perdue and Annie Podner; and sister-in-law, Norma Kinder. Mary Eden Mary E. Eden, nee Kuehnlein, 89, of Freeburg, Ill., born Thursday, March 31, 1927, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Friday, May 20, 2016 at Freeburg Care Center in Freeburg, Ill. Mary worked as a secretary for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
