Antoine, Jacqueline E. - Belleville  
Jacqueline Antoine Jacqueline Ellen Antoine, nee Thomas, 78, of Belleville, Ill., died Sunday, November 23, 2014, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill., surrounded by her loving family. Jacqueline"Jackie" was born in East St. Louis, Ill., on May 27, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Eugene J. and Genevieve A., nee Scully, Thomas. She married the late Frank J. Antoine Sr. on January 11, 1958. Frank and Jackie enjoyed a special loving relationship and enjoyed each other's company in all life's experiences. Jackie was a devoted homemaker and lifelong member of St. Mary Parish in Belleville. She loved spending time with family and friends and was a blessing to all those she knew. She enjoyed going on family vacations; supporting her children and grandchildren in all of their life events; and loved celebrating all holidays with her family. Jackie worked for the Internal Revenue Service and the Logistics and Air Mobility Command-United States Air Force at Scott Air Force Base. She retired in the year 2000 after seventeen years of service. She was a member of the Althoff Catholic High School Board and St. Mary Ladies Sodality. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank; and her brothers Thomas and Eugene. Surviving are her five children, Frank J. (Diane) Antoine Jr. of Conway, AR, Tom Antoine of Fairview Heights, Ill., Michelle (Mark) Pfeiffer of Belleville, Ill., Mary Lynn (Sam) Thompson of Paducah, Ky., and Eileen (Carl) Hausmann of Chesterfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, Meghan, Daniel, and Josh Antoine, Michael, Matthew, and Mark David Pfeiffer, Sam and Nick Thompson,and Brittany, Sydney, and Jill Hausmann; a brother, William J. (Gloria) Thomas; a sister, Eileen (Robert) Hagan of Belleville, Ill.; and many other loving relatives and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude and special thanks to the staff at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill., and to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo. Kovarik, Charles H. - Glen Carbon  
Charles Kovarik Charles Hilbert Kovarik, 92, of Glen Carbon, Ill., born Sept. 2, 1922, in Glen Carbon, Ill., passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at Relais Bonne Eau, Edwardsville, Ill. In high school his nickname was Model "A" Charlie, because he drove a 1930 two door black Model A. On occasion Charles was referred to as the "Fruitcake Man" because he helped his wife sell fruitcakes during the holidays. He made the sign that hung for 65 years on Rt. 159 that advertised homemade fruitcakes. Charles was a World War II veteran stationed in Okinawa and proudly served in the United States Army attaining the rank of Sergeant. After being discharged from the Army, Charles took advantage of the G.I. Bill and obtained his private pilots license. He was a faithful member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, American Legion and International Association of Aerospace Workers. He was a trustee and board member at Buck Road Cemetery for over thirty years. Charles retired from Olin Corporation in East Alton, Ill., as a tool & die maker and master machinist. Charles was a driver for meals on wheels and an assistant Boy Scout leader. He was a Cardinal Baseball fan and avid Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed photography, walking, jogging, riding his bike, cross country skiing and building wooden model airplanes. He played the piano and organ at weddings and other special occasions. He was also a talented accordion player. Charles was a master mechanic and could fix anything. He was a Lector, organist and sang in the choir at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. One of his fondest memories was the Central Illinois Honor Flight #6 he took to Washington D.C. in October of 2009 accompanied by his son Michael. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Charles will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. and Hilda C., nee Weiler, Kovarik; and a brother, Franklin Kovarik. Survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Rosalie F. Kovarik, whom he married June 13, 1946; dear children, Mary Birong of Alton, Ill., Mike (Linda) Kovarik of Edwardsville, Ill., Barbara (James) Smith of St. Louis, Mo., John (Debbie Doolin) Kovarik of Glen Carbon, Ill., Martha Brockus of Edwarsville, Ill., Amy (Jim) Saab of St. Charles, Mo., and Charles "Chip" (Sara) Kovarik of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a brother, James Kovarik of Glen Carbon, Ill.; a sister, Isabel "Isy" Schreiber of Edwardsville, Ill.; loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Memorial donations may be given to Land of Lincoln Honor Flight or Buck Road Cemetery Association and will be accepted at the church. Visitation: Friends may call from 10 until 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Glen Carbon, Ill. Funeral: In celebration of his life, a funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, with Father Al Allen officiating. Interment, with full military honors will be in Buck Road Cemetery, Glen Carbon, Ill. IRWIN CHAPEL, Glen Carbon, Ill.
