Carol Sue Hamm, 64, of Madison, Ill., born March 14, 1950, in Granite City, Ill., passed away at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at her home with her family at her side.
Mrs. Hamm was an owner and operator of Hamm's Landscaping in Madison, Ill., and had served many years of dedicated service as the president of the Madison School Board. She was a faithful and dedicated homemaker whom will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family. She was devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a proud supporter of Democrats United and had been very active through the years with the Madison Sports Booster Club. She enjoyed her days of motorcycle riding, ziplining and reading.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Joseph W. Nonn; and a brother, Gerald Nonn.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 46 years, John W. Hamm III, whom she married on March 23, 1968, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madison; five children, John W. Hamm IV and friend, Karen Allison of Granite City, Dawn Hamm of Madison, Joseph Hamm and wife, Sherry of Madison, Angela Burns and husband, Christopher of Millstadt and Beth Wachtel and husband, William of Madison; eight grandchildren, Alexandra Hamm, John W. Hamm V. Austin Skoklo, Ellie Hamm, Cameron Burns, August Wachtel, Madison Wachtel and Taylor Burns; her cherished mother, Charlotte E., nee Werner, Nonn of Collinsville; two brothers-in-law, Ronald Lee Hamm and wife, Ava of Springfield, Mo., and Garry Hamm and wife, Diane of St. Louis, Mo.; and other extended family and many friends.

Visitation: In celebration of her life, visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madison, Ill., with Father Jeff Holtman as celebrant. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Ill.
