Curtis J. Bachelier, 85, of Columbia, Ill., passed away on April 8, 2013, at Columbia Rehab. and Nursing Center, Columbia, Ill. He was born March 29, 1928, in Prairie Du Rocher, Ill., son of the late Prosper and Ada Mary, nee Godier, Bachelier. He was married to the late Verna (Buettner) Bachelier. They were married June 28, 1953, in Columbia, Ill. She had passed away on March 24, 2004.
Curtis was retired as a supervisor with Banner Iron Works, St. Louis, Mo. He was a certified landscaper and had worked at several local nurseries and golf courses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working outdoors, and following the St. Louis Cardinals each season. Playing the harmonica was his passion, for which he was well-known. He served in the U.S. Army
, and was a veteran of World War II
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Jacqueline Vogt, and Marie Hooten; and brothers, Myron, Ronald and Willard Bachelier.
Surviving are daughters, Joydean (Rick) Beatty of Columbia, Ill., and Lynn McAuliffe of Columbia, Ill.; grandchildren, Mallory and Michael Beatty, Molly (Grant) Gvozdich, and Artie McAuliffe; along with other relatives and friends.
