Eldo "Junior" Horn was born in Waterloo, Ill., on May 28, 1940. He was the third child, and first son, of Eldo Martin Horn Sr., and Ida Marion, nee Foslar, Horn.
Eldo graduated from Waterloo High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Navy
from 1959 to 1965. After his honorable discharge, he married Mary Elizabeth, nee Hooten, Horn of Fults, Ill., and opened his own bakery in Columbia, Ill. After the birth of their only child, Bradley, the couple moved to St. Charles, Mo. Eldo joined the Baked Goods Division of the Kroger Company, where he worked for more than 20 years.
In retirement, Eldo enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. His many journeys took him not only to different parts of the United States, but also to Poland, Denmark, Germany, Turkey, the Bahamas and Chile. Always one to enjoy sampling the local food and drink, Eldo was particularly fond of a good bratwurst and an ice-cold pisco sour - preferably a double.
