Frank W. Boo, 95, of Columbia, Ill., born Aug. 9, 1918, in Waterloo, Ill., passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Columbia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Columbia, Ill.
Frank served in the U.S. Navy
from 1937 to 1957, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. His tours of duty included serving as senior yeoman to Admiral Frank Fletcher aboard the USS Yorktown, CV5 and the USS Saratoga, CV3, during the Naval battles of Coral Sea, Midway and Guadalcanal. He was a veteran of World War II
and the Korean War
and was a member of American Legion Post 581, Columbia, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, nee Offermann, Boo, whom he married Sept. 1, 1940, in Yuma, Ariz., and who passed away Oct. 29, 2008; parents, Fredrich and Celesta, nee Jehling, Boo; and two brothers, Frederick E. and Willis J. Boo.
Surviving are sons, Dennis (Alicia) W. Boo of Cullowhee, N.C., and Gary W. Boo of Columbia, Ill.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Bethany United Methodist Church, Columbia, Ill., with Pastor Allyn Walker and Rev. Ron Chase, officiating. Mr. Boo was cremated according to his wishes. His remains will be interred in the family plot in Waterloo, Ill., at a later date.
