Hazel Dent

Hazel Isabel Dent, 82, of Lincoln, Mo., born Aug. 22, 1931, in Summerfield, Ill., passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Lincoln Community Nursing Home.

On Jan. 14, 1950, in Belleville, Ill., she was united in marriage to Ronald James Dent, Sr. This union was blessed with the gift of three children, Debra, Ronald, and James.

In 1977, she moved from Carlyle, Ill., to Warsaw, Mo., where she and her husband owned and operated Ron's Liquor and Sporting Goods. In the mid 1980s, they moved to Lincoln, Mo., and later to Cole Camp, Mo., where she was a member of First United Methodist Church. In the late 90's, they moved back to Lincoln and resided there until April 24, 2012, when she entered the Lincoln Community Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, doing needlework, going to flea markets looking for collectibles, and going camping. She had a green thumb and enjoyed having her dog on her lap while she watched TV.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Dent Sr.; parents, Charles and Rose, nee Helmholt, Heyde; three sisters, Lorraine Schlich, Jean Anderson, and Katherine Fluck; four brothers, Fred Heyde, Albert Heyde, Vern Heyde, and Wilbert Heyde; and two nieces.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra Myers of Shawnee, Kan.; two sons, Ronald J. Dent, Jr. and his wife Valerie of Cole Camp, Mo., and James M. Dent and his wife Mary of Warsaw, Mo.; a sister, Lillian Viehman of Belleville, Ill.; a granddaughter, Jeanna M. Thomas and her husband Lewis of Clinton, Mo.; a great-grandson, John Wesley Thomas; four nieces; and five nephews.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to First United Methodist Church or the in care of the Fox Funeral Home, PO Box 37, Cole Camp, Mo. 65325.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, Cole Camp, Mo.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, Cole Camp, with Pastor Michael Cassidy officiating. Burial will be in Union-Williams Cemetery, rural Cole Camp, Mo.
