Joe Arro

Joe Quinto Arro, 96, of Caseyville, Ill., born on July 10, 1917, in Christopher, Ill., passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Arro was a crew leader at Spectralite, formerly Dow Chemical for 26 years. He owned Arro's East Inn Tavern in Collinsville, Ill., home of the famous Poor Boy Sandwich. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, lifetime member of VFW Post 5691, Collinsville, Ill., and lifetime member of American Legion Post 365, Collinsville, Ill. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living sons of the American Legion in the United States. Joe was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Arro, nee Reano, on Aug. 17, 2008; a son, Michael Richard Arro, on June 17, 2008; four sisters, Ann Albertina and Rose Bernall, Mary Myslicki and Jennie Whittenbrink.

Surviving are a son, Joe A. (Beth) Arro of Collinsville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Tony (Elizabeth) Arro of Caseyville, Ill., Tara Jean Arro of Fairview Heights, Ill., Rosey Rogers of Penn., and Michael Anthony Arro of Hollywood Heights, Ill.; four great-grandchildren, Isabella Arro of Caseyville, Ill., and Ryan Artime of Fairview Heights, Ill., Jacob Artime of Fairview Heights, Ill., and Michael R. Arro of Hollywood Heights, Ill.; and a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Arro of Maryville, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Herbert A. Kassly Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Herbert A. Kassly Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill., with Father John Beveridge officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill., with full military honors.
