Lucille Frank

Lucille Frank, 90, of Marine, Ill., born Sept. 29, 1923, in Edwardsville, Ill., died at 9:33 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, Ill.

Mrs. Frank was born southwest of Marine in Pin Oak Township, Madison County, Ill., and grew up on a farm. She moved to Marine after her father's death in 1940. She worked at Convoy Heel Factory in St. Louis, Mo., for a number of years and then at the Olin Corporation (Western Cartridge Division). She retired from working to raise her family and help her husband with the farm. She enjoyed playing cards, such as euchre and pinochle, bowling, watching Cardinals baseball, quilting and attending all her grandchildren's events. She was a member of Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marine, Ill., St. Elizabeth Altar Society, Marine, Ill., and Marine Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin J. "Bud" Frank, whom she married on June 19, 1948, in Marine, Ill., and who died Oct. 10, 2010; parents, August F. and Amelia, nee Nemnich, Prott; three brothers, Orville Prott, Eldon Prott and Merle Prott; three sisters, Edna Kranz, Mildred Loos, and Nona A. Heuiser Schneider.

Surviving are her children, Connie M. (Marvin) Grapperhaus of Marine, Ill., Linda L. Frank (special friend, Bill Smith) of Highland, Ill., Roger A. (Judy) Frank of Edwardsville, Ill., Rita A. Frank of Alhambra, Ill., and Don J. (Connie) Frank of Highland, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Todd Micheal (Sarah) Frank of Worden, Ill., Amy Michelle (Michael) Hamann of Troy, Ill., Andrew John (Jamie) Grapperhaus of Edwardsville, Ill., Chad Matthew (Denise) Frank of Marine, Ill., Elizabeth Marie (Jimmy) Terry of Marine, Ill., Ryan Marcus Frank of Worden, Ill., Molly Marie Frank of Edwardsville, Ill., Ashley Megan Frank (fiance, Mike Bruns) of Edwardsville, Ill., Colin Robert Frank of Highland, Ill., and Devon James Frank of Highland, Ill.; nine great-grandchildren, Aryk R. Terry of Marine, Ill., Claire E. Hamann of Troy, Ill., Connor J. Hamann of Troy, Ill., Taylor A. Frank of Worden, Ill., Katelyn M. Frank of Marine, Ill., Alaina M. Grapperhaus of Edwardsville, Ill., Allie N. Hamann of Troy, Ill., Brandon A. Frank of Marine, Ill., and Lydia A. Grapperhaus of Edwardsville, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.



Funeral: Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marine, Ill., with Father Pat G. Jakel officiating. Interment will be at Saint Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery in Marine, Ill.
