Norman C. Brough, 85, of Belleville, Ill., born Dec. 15, 1927, in Belleville, Ill., died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Rosewood Care Center, Swansea, Ill., surrounded by his family.
Mr. Brough worked as a tooling foreman at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Mo., and Madrid, Spain, for 42 years. He was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., for more than 50 years and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus Belleville Council 1028. Norman belonged to the "Norms" Club and was an avid carpenter and motorcycle enthusiast. He was a World War II
Air Corp veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Bernice M. "Niki", nee Schlich, Brough, whom he married on Jan. 28, 1948, at St. Peter's Cathedral, and who died May 11, 2005; his parents, Alva E. and Marie J., nee Marton, Brough; a brother-in-law, Henry Stratman; and two great-granddaughters, Madison Kolle and Kendra Brough.
Surviving are his seven children, Linda (Dan) Schomber of Belleville, Ill., Marcia Johnston of Belleville, Ill., Norman William (Susan) Brough of Smithton, Ill., Jon (Wendy) Brough Sr. of Belleville, Ill., Diana Lugge of Belleville, Ill., Steven Brough of Belleville, Ill., and Ronda Brough of Swansea, Ill.; 15 grandchildren, Michelle (Wm. Ashley) Holland, Rebecca Kolle, Cheryl (Jason) Whiteside, Michelle (Jason) Augustin, Shauna (Tim) Blair, Katharine Johnston, Jay (Lindsey) Johnston, Julia (Mike) Simpson, Kayla Brough, Jon (Emily) Brough Jr., Paul (Hollie) Brough, Tara Lugge, Taylor Lugge, Connor Brough, and Zoie Bagley; 20 great-grandchildren; his sister, Arlene Stratman of Kissimmee, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., with the Rev. Andy Knopik and the Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
