Pearlie M. Gain(1925 - 2013)

Pearlie Gain

Pearlie Mitchell Gain, 88, of Lenzburg, Ill., formerly of Cahokia, Ill., born July 3, 1925, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at her residence, in a peaceful and tranquil environment. Her family remained at her bedside until her passing unto our Lord, Jesus Christ.

She was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo., and attended Brown Business School where she earned an associates degree in accounting. She worked as an accountant and office manager at Bundy Olds, Meyer Olds and retired from Schmidt Trucking. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Freeburg, Ill., the Belleville Ostomy Association and Women of the Moose Lodge. She was very quick witted and spoke what was on her mind. She enjoyed camping, traveling and playing cards and "debating" with friends and family. She was a Florida snowbird with her husband for 13 years, and after his passing she eventually stayed until her illness brought her back home in 2012.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George "Skip" Gain; a daughter, Candace "Candy" Hanvey-Racho; a son-in-law, Thomas Hanvey; a granddaughter, Heather Mathes; two brothers, Clarence and James Mitchell; and three sisters, Ruth Rhodes, Grace Gaspirin, and Frances Miller.

Surviving are two granddaughters, Cheri (Troy Barton) Mayfield, and Cristan (Tommy) Crider; six great-grandchildren, Daniel Mayfield, Chellee Mathes, and Jeremy, Miranda, Kaylyn and Kassidy Crider; three great-great-grandchildren, Paisley and Draidan Mayfield, and KeiLyn Bowens; a son-in-law, Ramon "Gene" Racho; a brother-in-law, Bill Gain; a sister-in-law, Martha Sparnak; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Freeburg, Ill.

Funeral: Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at the church, with Father Mark Reyling officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
