Raymond L. Schmidt, 84, of Belleville, Ill., born Nov. 9, 1928, in Napa, Calif., died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Schmidt was a United States Air Force
veteran who served 24 years before his retirement as a senior master sergeant. After his retirement from the Air Force, he owned and operated Schmidt Audio Visual from 1973 to the present time. He was an audio visual specialist, known as "The Light Man".
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Maria M., nee Oswald, Schmidt, whom he married on Dec. 15, 1951, and who died Oct. 12, 2012; his parents, Louis L. and Elizabeth Rose, nee Smith, Schmidt; his foster parents, James and Edith, nee Huesner, Legan; and two brothers, Ralph and Tommy Legan.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Ingrid Regler of Munich, Germany; a step-granddaughter, Birgit Regler of Munich, Germany; two nephews, Hort Taschner of Stuttgart, Germany, and Michael Oswald of Germany; a niece, Analiese Sparks of Portugal; cousins, Lisa Peck of El Paso, Texas, Michael Peck of Phoenix, Ariz., Patricia Peck of of Westminster, Colo., and Guenther Liebers of Munich, Germany; and special friends, Mark and Denise Juen of Belleville, Ill.
