Richard A. "Pappy" Dittrich, 64, of Granite City, Ill., born Dec. 30, 1949, in Granite City, Ill., passed away at 9:33 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Ill.
Richard retired in 2008 from American Steel after 18 years of dedicated service in the storeroom. He proudly served his country with the United States Marines during the Vietnam War
. He had a special love of motorcycles and cherished his days on his Harley Davidson. He was quite the jokester and enjoyed having a good time in life. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen, nee Drozda, Dittrich; and a sister, Jeanette.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Barbara, nee Legens, Dittrich, whom he married on May 17, 2009, in Granite City, Ill.; a son, Richard A. Dittrich Jr., of California; daughter, Jennie Bogovich of Edwardsville, Ill.; son, Brian Bogovich of Collinsville, Ill.; brother, Joe Dittrich of Troy, Ill.; mother-in-law, Geneva Willoughby of Bethalto, Ill.; special niece, Kim; other nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation: In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
