Richard Hayes

Richard H. Hayes, 83, of Waterloo, Ill., born Dec. 5, 1929, in Raton, N.M., died on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, in St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Hayes had retired from the Federal Highway Administration, had operated a cattle ranch in Oklahoma, graduated from University of New Mexico, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and grew up in Springer, N.M. He was a member of the Waterloo Quadrille Square Dance Club, where he was a former president.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Margaret, nee McMurrough, Hayes.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce, nee Ferris, Hayes; children, Greg (Rene) Hayes and Stephanie Hayes; grandchildren, Kaitlin Hayes and Matt Hayes; brother, James Hayes; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Siteman Cancer Center for Melanoma Research.
