Virginia Leigh Griffin, 94, of Edwardsville, Ill., formerly of Tulsa, Okla., born Aug. 27, 1919, in Huron, S.D., passed away at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at University Nursing and Rehab in Edwardsville, Ill.
Virginia was a wife of former Pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Granite City. Together they were evangelist, pastors and missionaries for many years traveling around the world to many countries.
Her service to others and love for the Lord became her most distinguishing characteristic in life. Many have been inspired and encouraged by her strong faith in God's love and His ultimate purpose. Her constant goal in life was to make a difference for others, and that goal was achieved with dignity and poise throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Marie, nee Royston, Gorham; her former husband, Rev. Hilliard Griffin; a sister, Norma Marie Miller; a brother, Raymond Gorham; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Miller.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Reading Wall and James Wall of Edwardsville; son, Gerald "Jerry" Griffin of Tulsa, Okla.; three grandchildren, Heather and Randy Chapman of Glen Carbon, Richard and Becky Skubish of Troy and Robert Griffin of Tulsa, Okla.; many great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Grace Gorham of Ocala, Fla.; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
