Jack Leder Obituary
Jack E. Leder, 80, of Highland, Ill., born March 28, 1931, in Highland, Ill., died at 12:32 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Ill.
Jack grew up on a farm west of Highland near Leder's Crossing. He was a 1948 graduate of St. Jacob High School. He owned and operated a grain and cattle farm for over 60 years. Earlier in his life he enjoyed fox and coon hunting. He traveled extensively Polka Dancing in Ohio, Michigan, Colorado, Wisconsin and Florida. He was a member of St. Jacob United Church of Christ in St. Jacob, Ill., the Helvetia Sharp Shooters Society and former member of the Metro Polka Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward R. and Edna M., nee Leder, Leder; a son-in-law, Richard A. Bennett Jr.; and his brother, William J. Leder.
Surviving are his wife, Grace M., nee Porter, Leder whom he married on Oct. 15, 1949, in St. Jacob, Ill.; his son, Edward I. (Sharon) Leder of Highland, Ill.; two daughters, Carol S. (Wendell) Adams of Charleston, Ill., and LuAnn L. Bennett of Delaplane, Va.; grandchildren, Zachary W. Adams of Scottsdale, Ariz., Ann L. (Mark) Rollinson of Fulsom, Calif., Taylor B. Adams of Charleston, Ill., Kevin S. Bennett of Charlottesville, Va., Bryan G. (Emily) Bennett of Washington DC, Richard A. Bennett III of New York, N.Y., Ashley N. Leder of Highland, Ill., and Christina M. Leder of St. Jacob, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Allison Grace Rollinson, Laurie Suzanne Rollinson and Lena Grace Adams; and his sister-in-law, Jean M. Leder of St. Jacob, Ill.
Memorials may be made to St. Jacob United Church of Christ or HACSM (food pantry). Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.spengel-boulanger.com.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home, Highland, Ill.
Friends may also call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at St. Jacob United Church of Christ, St. Jacob, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 am. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at St. Jacob United Church of Christ with Rev. Gary Kniepkamp officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery, Highland, Ill.

Words cannot express the sadness that we feel. Jack was a wonderful person who had a great impact on each of us. Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to Grace and the entire Leder family.
