James Hudson Obituary
James R. "Jimmy" Hudson, 20, of Granite City, Ill., born Oct. 20, 2015, in Maryville, Ill., passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015, in Greenville, Mo.
He was a student attending Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Ill. He was a 2014 graduate of Granite City High School where he was active with the golf team and was on the National Honor Society. He enjoyed traveling, watching movies and being with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Brenda Burchard, James and Mercedes Hudson, and Rosalie Thacker Hudson.
Surviving are his beloved parents, James W. and Angie, nee Helm, Hudson; a cherished sister, Brooke Hudson of Granite City, Ill.; his grandfather, John Helm of Greenville, Mo.; his great-grandmother, Trella Helm of Wappapello, Mo.; aunts and uncles, Tammy and Todd Hancock of Puxico, Mo., Eric and Jamie Helm of Puxico, Mo., Jon and Mindy Helm of Fredericktown, Mo., Ken and Linda Schmitt of Bedford, Texas, Sharon Fox of Crawfordville, Fla., Kathy Hubbard of Granite City, Ill., Karen Hudson of O'Fallon, Mo., and Dan Hudson of Granite City, Ill.; many special cousins; other extended family and many friends..
Memorials may be made to the Granite City Rotary Scholarship Fund, and may be accepted at the funeral home.

Visitation: In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 18, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015, at the funeral home, with Reverend Ken Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, Ill.

I did not personally know you but you are a part of my SIUE family. You came here to advance your own interests in your field of study to earn yourself a future job with your earned degree. You would have been a great bonus to society to join the ranks of the well educated, motivated, proffessional, and caring SIUE alumni. I mourn your premature exit from society and hope your family and close friends can radiate positivity in this overwhelming time of grief and sorrow. My heart goes out to your loved ones and all of us here at SIUE have you in our minds going forward.
