Robert Tweedy Obituary
Robert L. Tweedy, 83, of Belleville, Ill., born Thursday, September 28, 1933, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Friday, August 4, 2017 at his residence in Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Tweedy worked as a Supervisor of Signals and Communication for Alton & Southern Railway for 46 years. He was a former member of St. Clair County Anglers Club.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn, nee Werkmeister, Tweedy; son, Robert Gregory Tweedy Sr.; parents, Harry and Helen, nee Henson, Tweedy; brothers, James Tweedy and William Tweedy; sister, Martha Dickhans; grandsons, Robert Gregory Tweedy Jr. and Andrew Tweedy; Melba's son, John Schwartz.
Surviving are his daughter, Debra A. (Jerry) Voll of Phoenix, Ariz.; sons, Steven (Janet) Tweedy of Overland Park, Kan., Jeff (Susan) Tweedy of Chicago, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Robin Tweedy of O'Fallon, Mo.; beloved partner, Melba Mueller of Belleville, Ill.; Melba's children, Harold (Rick) Schwartz and Theresa LaFore; sister, Helen Shalenko of Fairview Heights, Ill.; grandchildren, Julee (Jason) Grovert, Todd (Valerie) Voll, Katie Tweedy, Spencer Tweedy, Sam Tweedy, Krystal (Devin) Barnes, Mariah LaFore, Derrek (Ashley) Schwartz and Kodi LaFore; great-grandchildren, Keegan Grovert, Olivia Grovert, Ella Tweedy, Tillie Barnes, Ezra Barnes, Mabrie Schwartz and Louie Schwartz; sister-in-law, Gail Henties of Millstadt, Ill.; Gail's Children, Amanda Panzau, Sara Hillman, and their children, Gwendlyn, Henry and Floyd; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Memorials may be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society (Team Susan Miller Tweedy) or Belleville Area Humane Society. Condolences may be expressed online at www.kurrusfh.com.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Ill.
Services: Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., August 7, 2017 at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Chaplain Jason Vinson officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Dear Stevo, Debra and Jeff,
My deepest sympathy in losing your father and no words can truly express your loss. At this sorrow filled time remember to keep close your memories. Grieve for him but also celebrate a man who was deeply loved. Know that when he truly needed you, you all came thru for him.
My wish for you is to remember and cherish the memories you share. Pull them close when sadness and grief seem overwhelming. Smile at the happy memories and live your life fully as a tribute to both your parents.
