Glen Drury Obituary

Bruce Drury

Glen Bruce Drury, 60, of O'Fallon, Ill., born June 12, 1953, in Japan, to Robert and Nancy, nee West, Drury, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at his home with his family at his side.

Bruce came to O'Fallon as a teenager when his dad was assigned to Scott Air Force Base. Bruce first noticed Becky in high school math class, and she soon invited him to the Sadie Hawkins dance. Thus began a beautiful relationship that spanned over 40 years. Their commitment to each other will serve as a lasting example to their children. Bruce was a devoted dad, coaching all their sports teams, teaching by his example how to be hardworking, caring, honest, independent, strong willed, funny and loving.

After serving three years in the U.S. Army, Bruce attended SIUE, earning his degree in government. He began his employment with the U.S. Postal Service in 1980 as program manager, Business Systems Solutions at the St. Louis Solutions Center, where he was well respected among his work peers.

Bruce was committed to serving his community. He was past member of District 203 School Board, served on the O'Fallon Parks Board, and supported the initiatives of the OTHS Endowment Fund. As a parent, Bruce was active in O'Fallon Boosters for many years, enriching the lives of O'Fallon kids.

"Bruce the Goose" was a dependable, unselfish friend, and always willing to put the needs of others before his own. His love for his wife, his dedication to his children, and his legacy as "Papa Bruce" to his grandchildren will be cherished and long-remembered.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Randall Drury.

Surviving are his wife, Rebecca, nee Schwarz, Drury, whom he married on Dec. 9, 1977, in O'Fallon; his children, Christopher (Julie) Drury of Columbia, Mo., Nicole (Matt) Walker of Houston, Texas, and Timothy (Kerri) Drury of Belleville., Ill.; his much loved grandchildren, Benjamin, Kyan, Emerson, plus one on the way; his dear brother, Michael (Cindy) Drury of O'Fallon; his former sister-in-law, Carla (Jim) Howard of O'Fallon; several nieces and nephews, and many extended family members and friends.

In honor of Mr. Drury's life, memorial donations may be made to Siteman Cancer Center or O'Fallon Township High School Endowment Fund. Condolences may be extended to the family by visiting www.wfh-ofallon.com.
