Ronald George

Ronald Paul George, 66, of Shiloh, Ill., born May 30, 1947, in Belleville, Ill., passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at his home.

Ron grew up in O'Fallon, graduated from OTHS Class of '64, earned his BA from SIUE, and worked in corporate accounting in the St. Louis area. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era.

Ron was an active 5K, 10K and marathon runner before his illness. He was past president of Highland Animal Shelter, and enjoyed traveling and playing poker. He was a lifelong Cardinals fan, a devoted husband, and proud father and grandfather. He was a vital contributor to the pheresis-donor program at Barnes Hospital.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Paul R. George; and his father-in-law, James D. Pfeifer.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Barbara George, whom he married on Sept. 8, 1973; his sons, Tom George of Collinsville and Michael (Melissa) George of Troy; his much-loved granddaughters, Grace, Ella, and Ruby; his mother, Mona George of O'Fallon; sister, Nancy (Wallace) Ogle of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and his mother-in-law, Nina Pfeifer of O'Fallon.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at the funeral home. Private burial will be at O'Fallon City Cemetery.
