Mr. Alan Matecki, 61, of Ashley, Ill., born Feb. 12, 1955, in Belleville, Ill., departed this life at 9:58 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ill., after a sudden illness.
Alan was a truck driver with the Teamsters Union and also worked for the City of Ashley, Ill., for several years.
He was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, Ill., and the Knights of Columbus. Alan was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union.
He was preceded in death by his father. Theodore Matecki.
Surviving, and left to mourn his passing, are his mother, Angeline Matecki; four brothers, Rick Matecki and Brian (JoLynn) Matecki, all of Millstadt, Ill., Jeff (Shawn) Matecki of Ashley, Ill., and Eric Matecki of Belleville, Ill.; eight nephews, Andy, Tim (Cristin), Tony (Michele), Austin, Dustin, Mitchell (Emily) and Lucas Matecki; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, Mass offerings or memorials may be made to the St. Michael Catholic Church and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home. Online expressions of sympathy may be made at www.campagnafuneralhomes.com
In accordance with the wishes of Alan and his family, cremation was performed.
Visitation: Friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at Campagna Funeral Home, Ashley, Ill.
Funeral: A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, from the St. Michael Catholic Church, Radom, Ill., with Fr. Oliver Nwachkuwu officiating. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date.
