Alma Mae "Ann" O'Flaherty, nee Thompson, 90, of O'Fallon, Ill., born May 2, 1926, in Washington Park, Ill., died Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at her home, with her daughter, Cynthia O'Flaherty, granddaughter Kate O'Flaherty, son-in-law Gerald Montroy and niece Rebecca Bailey with her at the time of her death.
Alma worked at Edison Brothers Shoe Factory in St Louis, Mo., for 37 years before she retired in 1990. Her daughter, Patricia O'Flaherty lived with her until "Patty" died of cancer in 2003. She then moved to her home in Villa Hills and lived there with her niece, Rebecca Bailey. After her Parkinson's disease advanced and became disabling, she moved to O'Fallon, Ill., and was cared for by her daughter "Cindy" along with other caregivers.
Following her retirement, she loved to go to Bingo with her sister Betty Greene and watch television with her dog, Buttercup.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Edgar Thompson; brothers, Elmer and Eugene Thompson; a sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Jim Payne.
Surviving are her sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Harry Greene and Marcella and Art Dixon; a daughter, Cynthia O'Flaherty, and her husband Gerald Montroy; and her granddaughter, Kate O'Flaherty.

Visitation; Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at St. Nicholas Church Chapel, 625 St. Nicholas Drive, O'Fallon, Ill.
Funeral: Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at St. Nicholas Church Chapel with Father Roger Karban officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.
