Alma "Ruth" Oberkfell, nee Johnson, 70, of Maryville, Ill. born Jan. 28, 1933, in Murphysboro, Ill., died Sunday, at 4:15 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 at her residence.
She was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Troy, Ill., Maryville Homecoming Parade Committee, a devoted Christian, a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Michael Oberkfell, on Nov. 13, 1959; her parents, Cecil C. and Virginia L., nee Blaylock, Johnson.
Surviving are her husband, Harold "Honey" "Ike" Lawrence Oberkfell whom she married in 1950 in Pocahontas, Ark.; six children, Keith (Diane) Oberkfell of East Alton, Ill., Cheryl (Larry) Walker of Maryville, Ill., Karen (Tim) Martin of Maryville, Ill., David Oberkfell of Collinsville, Ill., Traci (Raymond) Deien of Boca Raton, Fla., and George (Amy) Oberkfell of Collinsville, Ill.; brothers and sisters, Paul (Rose Marie) Johnson of Texas, Wayne Johnson of Tucson, Ariz., Jerry (Mickey) Johnson of Springfield, Mo., Norma (Andy) Pyburn of Morrisville, Mo., Cleta (Billy) Dean of Granite City, Ill., Patricia (Duane) Reed of Walnut Grove, Mo., and Floyd (Betty) Johnson of Granite City, Ill.; 20 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation or church of choice.
Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at the Herbert A. Kassly Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill.
Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Smith officiating. Mrs. Oberkfell's wishes were to be cremated.
