Ann Pieper, 92, of Granite City, Ill., born Nov. 22, 1923, in Granite City, Ill., passed away Monday, April 4, 2016, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.

Ann was a dedicated and loving funeral director and a member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association and Madison County Funeral Directors Association. She and her husband owned and operated Pieper Funeral home in Granite City, Ill., and she continued the tradition for many years following his death. After the closure of Pieper Funeral Home in 1988, she served the community working with Irwin Chapel for 20 years until her retirement in 2009. Ann loved music, singing, cooking and dancing and was very active in the past years at the former St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City where she had served as a Eucharistic Minister, lector and soloist. She had also been a member of the church choir for over 50 years and active with Young at Heart and Church Women United. She was professed in the St. Francis Lay Ministers 3rd Order and had served as a Past- President of the St. Ann's Altar Society. Throughout the years, Ann was very active throughout the community and was a charter member and Past Regent of the Daughters of Isabella 1038, charter member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Tri-Cities Council 1098, Croatian Lodge 222, Elkettes Lodge 1063, Eagles Aerie 1126 and Business and Professional Women. She had served on many boards including the American Cancer Society and the Chamber of Commerce.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Pieper, whom she married on May 3, 1945, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Granite City, Ill., and who passed away on March 24, 1965; her parents, Henry and Katie, nee Malcic, Stajduhar; and two brothers, Henry and Tony Stajduhar.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and William Dallas of Granite City, Ill., and Victoria and Kerry Bundy of Granite City, Ill.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Mary Pieper of Festus, Mo., and John and Sheree Pieper of Florissant, Mo.; a grandson, Jonathan Bundy of Granite City, Ill.; a granddaughter and her husband, Melissa and Ryan McCulloch of Springfield, Ill.; a great-granddaughter, Adilene McCulloch of Springfield, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Juanita James of Glen Carbon, Ill.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Pieper of Granite City, Ill.; many nieces; nephews; cousins; other extended family and countless friends.

Visitation: In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill., with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Granite City, Ill.

Funeral: A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, at the church, with Father Jeff Holtman as celebrant. Private family burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, Ill.
