Sgt. Anthony R. "Tony" Silva, 25, of Columbia, Ill., born Jan. 25, 1986, in Inglewood, Calif., passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011, in Denver Colo.
Sgt. Silva was serving in the U.S. Army, 4th Infantry Division - K Company, based at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Colo., and had previously been stationed in South Korea. He was a graduate of Columbia, Ill., High School - Class of 2004. He was a member of American Legion Post 581, and St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, Ill. His dog, Jack, and cat, Gizmo, were his pride and joy.
Tony was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Elmer E. Blank; paternal grandfather, Fred Silva; and an uncle, Fred R. Silva.
Surviving are his parents, Dave and Diane, nee Blank, Silva; brother, Joey Silva of Columbia, Ill.; maternal grandmother, Evelyn, nee Harres, Blank of Columbia, Ill.; paternal grandmother, Ramona Silva of Los Angeles, Calif.; uncle, Robert L. (Mary Sue) Blank of Columbia, Ill.; cousins, Jessica (Brent) Neumeyer, and Brenna and Trent Blank; along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2011, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, Ill., with Pastor Bob Goddard, officiating. Interment will follow in the Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia, Ill.
