Anthony T. "Tony" Maggio, 85, of Belleville, Ill., born Saturday, Oct. 10, 1931, in St. Louis, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016 at his residence.
Anthony worked as a publisher for various newspapers, worked seventeen years at the St. Louis Globe Democrat, and was the national premium sales manager for Rawlings Sporting Goods. He was the owner of Pasta House Garden Patio, two locations of Nino's Restaurant, Tom's Deli, and Tomar office building. He had many rental properties, was a franchise owner of Whispering Pines Log Homes, and was owner and publisher of FSBO Newspaper. He was an avid golfer and a Korean War Army veteran.
He had played for the St. Louis Browns minor league team, and coached many years of baseball in Belleville Khoury League.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn nee Branz, Maggio; parents, Angelo and Jennie, nee Gianformaggio, Maggio.
Surviving are his children, Thomas Maggio of Caseyville, Ill., John (Teri) Maggio of Collinsville, Ill., Jeanne (Mark) Stewart of Fairview Heights, Ill., Jeri (Troy) McCormick of St. Louis, Mo., and Patricia (Mark Abright) Maggio-Pons of O'Fallon, Ill.; 15 grandchildren, OSFC Michael (Laura) Maggio, Mark Stewart Jr., Andrew (Mollie) Maggio, Ashley (fiance, Chris) Caretta, Al (Christina) Carretta, Justin (Amanda) Carretta, Kevin (Malorie) Pons, Matthew (fiance, Audrey) McCormick, Kelsey Stewart, Miles Maggio, Molly McCormick, Brett Maggio, Airman Thomas A. Maggio Jr. (Cassidy), Danielle Maggio, and Tony "T.J." Maggio; and five great-grandchildren, Treyton, Parker, Maycie, Kellan, and Henry; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Service: Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016 at Kurrus Funeral Home. Private interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
