Ardell H. Alms, 85, of Steeleville, Ill., born June 21, 1930, in Campbell Hill, Ill., passed away Monday, June
13, 2016, at Memorial Hospital, Chester, Ill.
He was a United States Navy veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. Ardell was retired from Spartan Printing as a Journeyman Printer. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in
Steeleville, and the B.B.K. American Legion Post 480 in Steeleville. Ardell liked all sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna, nee Oetking, Alms; a sister, Pearl; and two brothers, Orville and Donald.
Surviving are his wife, Doretta, nee Karsten, Alms, whom he married on Feb. 4, 1956, in Steeleville, Ill.; a son, Kent A. (Carol) Alms of Chesterfield, Mo.; a daughter, Kathy (Skip) Silvester of Florissant, Mo.; two grandchildren, Tyler Alms and Steven Silvester; a sister-in- law, Nita Alms of Steeleville, Ill.; a brother-in- law, LeRoy (Marlene) Karsten of Marissa, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016, with an American Legion Service to follow at 8 p.m. at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, Ill. Additional visitation will be from 7:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016, at the funeral home.
Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016, at the funeral home, with Rev. S. Blake Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville, Ill.
