Arland G. Rey, 92, of Columbia, Ill., born Oct. 18, 1924, in Valmeyer, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016.
Arland was a member of American Legion Post No. 581, Columbia, Ill., for over 65 years where he was active with the color guard and had served in every capacity of the organization over the years. He had served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Arland retired from National Lead Co. after 18 yrs. of service, and did not miss a single day of work.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert L. and Adele, nee Schuchardt, Rey; his first wife, Mabel, nee Byers, Rey; a sister, Ardell Schewe; and brothers, Alvin Rey, and Virgil, Calvin, and Harold Crook.
Surviving are his wife, Marian Rey, nee Dotzauer, whom he married April 20, 1991, in Columbia, Ill.; children, Dennis (Judy) Rey of St. Louis, Mo., Sandra Rey of Columbia, Ill., Connie (Art) Sparn of Dupo, Ill., Richard (Pam) Mundinger of Hamburg, Iowa, and Laurel (Kevin) Kelly of Germany; sisters, Alberta Brandt of New Hanover, Ill., and Catherine Hoffmann of Waterloo, Ill., five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, Ill.
Funeral: Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 at Lawlor Funeral Home with Rev. William Groennert officiating. Interment will follow in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo., with full military honors.
