Arlene Louise Fritsche, nee Thies, 88, of New Athens, Ill., born March 9, 1927, in Ava, Ill., passed away Feb. 26, 2916, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Mrs. Fritsche retired after 20 years as a binder for Spartan Printing. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Arlene liked growing flowers, assembling puzzles and crocheting. She also enjoyed bird watching. Arlene was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arnold R. Fritsche, whom she married on April 17, 1949, in Campbell Hill., Ill., and who died March 20, 2004; her parents, Arnold and Irene, nee Moureau, Thies; three brothers; and a sister.
Surviving are four sons, Mike (Brenda) Thies of Campbell Hill, Ill., Kevin (Jo D) Fritsche of New Athens, Ill., Narval (Christina) Fritsche of Lenzburg, Ill., and Todd (Vonda) Fritsche of New Athens, Ill.; four daughters, Sheryll (Jim) Ragland of Henderson, Ky., Marsha (Kenny) Harriss of Lenzburg, Ill., Raegena (Jerry) Harriman of Marissa, Ill., and LaDonna (Bill) Petri of New Athens, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosalie Rathert of Chester, Ill.; and two sisters-in-law, Norma Ernsting of Steeleville, Ill., and Margaret Fritsche of Percy, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, New Athens, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with John Lukomski officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
