Bernard R. "Bernie" Ross, 63, of Maeystown, Ill., born on Dec. 14, 1950, in Red Bud, Ill., died on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, in Red Bud, Ill.
Mr. Ross was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, a life member of the Waterloo Fire Department, president of Maeystown Rural Fire Protection District, Maeystown Civic Association, Maeystown Sportsman Club, Beaver Lake Club and was employed by Robert "Chick" Fritz Distributing.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin E. Ross and Charlotte M., nee Koopmann, Heise; grandparents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred P. and Lillian Pieper; aunt, Dorothy Pautler; and cousins.
Surviving are his wife, Fay, nee Pieper, Ross; children, Julie (Jay) Whitlock, Jason (Jill) Crouch and Ryan (Dawn) Crouch; grandchildren, Logan and Rigby Whitlock, Bryanna Crouch and Ashlyn Crouch; sister, Cheryl (Tim) Williams; nieces, Kristin Williams and Claire Pieper; brothers-in-law, Allan (Tammi) Pieper and Eric Pieper; step father, George Heise; uncles, cousins and many friends. Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ Mission Team, Maeystown Civic Association or Maeystown Fire Department.
Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo, Ill.
Funeral: Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo, Ill., with Father Osang Idagbo C.M. officiating. Interment in St. John Cemetery in Maeystown, Ill.
