Bernice Bostick

Bernice W. "Bern" Bostick, nee Wildhaber, 92, of O'Fallon, Ill., born July 14, 1921, in St. Louis, Mo., passed away Saturday morning, March 22, 2014.

Bernice was born and raised in St. Louis, attended Rosati-Kain High School, graduated from Harris Teacher's College, and later earned her graduate degree from St. Louis University. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. She taught for many years in the St. Louis public elementary schools and later in her career was a Reading Specialist. She traveled often with her dear sister, Dolores, visiting much of Europe, China, and the U.S. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in St. Louis and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in O'Fallon, Ill., and Yesterday's Kids group at the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 1st Lieutenant James Keith Bostick, Army Air Corps, in 1946; and her parents, Joseph and Marie, nee Lampe, Wildhaber.

Surviving are her son, Jim (Mary Ann) Bostick of O'Fallon, Ill.; her sister, Dolores Wildhaber of O'Fallon, Ill.; granddaughter, Christine Trodglen of Belleville, Ill.; and great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Lauren Trodglen.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2014, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 27, 2014, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church O'Fallon, Ill., with Monsignor William J. Hitpas presiding. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
