Betty L. Stern, 88, of Glen Carbon, Ill., formerly of Belleville, Ill., born March 10, 1928, in DuQuoin, Ill., departed this life on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Betty was a housewife and was known for all the Christmas cookies she made and gave away. She was a member of Queen of Peace Church in Belleville, Ill. Betty resided in Belleville until June of 2015 and then resided at Meridian Village.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Stern, whom she married on Aug. 30, 1958, in Todds Mill, Ill., and who died Jan. 10, 2006; her parents, James and Rose, nee Prazak, Holecek; three brothers, Robert, James and Joseph Holecek and their wives; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Left to mourn her passing is her daughter, Katherine Stern of Edwardsville; her like a daughter, Eileen Fitzgerald of Edwardsville; her sister-in-law, Martha Stern of Nashville; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, and from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, Ill.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todds Mill, Ill., with Father Bernard Goedde officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
