Bobby Joe Douglas, Sr., 78, of Collinsville, Ill., born Thursday, January 27, 1938, in Carlisle, Tenn., passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016, surrounded by his family.
Bobby served his country valiantly in the United States Marine Corps., retiring after 13 years of service to his country. He was a teacher for 21 years with Ranken, and he was in Civil Service for almost 7 years. Bobby was a member of Copper Creek Christian Church in Maryville, Ill.
Bobby Joe loved the Lord, his wife and family, friends and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Jean, nee Jackson, Douglas; and four brothers, Charles Douglas, John Douglas, Marvin Douglas, and Donald Douglas.
Surviving are his loving wife, Jean, nee Clements, Douglas; his sons, Bobby Joe (Nancy) Douglas, Jr., of Troy, Ill., and Dwain E. (Rocky) Douglas of Granite City, Ill.; and a sister, Lynda Johnson of Junction, Ill.; his grandchildren, Natasha, Kimberly, Joshua, Laura, Daniel; and his great-grandchildren, Kathleen and Braelynn.
Memorials may be made to Copper Creek Christian Church, or to BJC Hospice.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Copper Creek
Christian Church, Maryville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the church. Interment will follow in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
