Bonnie Lee Friess, nee Stanek, 74, of Belleville, Ill., born August 31, 1939, in Belleville, Ill., died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
Bonnie had worked in retail for many years. She was the past owner and operator of Sunburst Fashions, Belleville, Ill., and had also been a sales associate for Mueller Furniture, Belleville, Ill. She loved playing Rummikub and cards with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, David C. Friess, whom she married on June 17, 1961, and who died Oct. 4, 2001; and her parents, Paul S. and Evelyn E., nee Karch, Stanek.
Surviving are two children, Dana (Kurt) Graebe of Swansea, Ill., and Paul Friess of Belleville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Patrick and Leid Graebe, and Lindsey and Paul Friess; a great-grandson, Eli; two sisters, Kay (William) Weber of Belleville, Ill., and Paulette Embertson of Washburn, Wis.; nieces and nephews; and a longtime friend, Richard Wahlig.
As a final act of kindness, Bonnie donated her organs.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., with Rev. Darwin Schrader officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
