Brett Matthew Dardeen, 47, born in Belleville, Ill., passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at his home.
Brett was the most remarkable daddy to Athena and Evangeline and loved them with all of his heart and soul. His passion was raising his girls. They were truly his best friends in every sense of the word. Brett looked forward to seeing their faces everyday and listening to absolutely everything they had to say to him. He never missed an opportunity to be at a tea party, a class party, a field trip, a mini golf game, a Thomas the Train episode, and anything else they wanted him to do.
Brett enjoyed traveling with his family and always found the time to soak in the history of each location. He had an endless appreciation for many genres of music and enjoyed playing the guitar. He was a devoted gym rat and competitive bodybuilder. He was a Retired Glazier of Glaziers, Architectural Metal and Glassworkers Local No. 513 in St. Louis, Mo., for 20 years where he worked on gems of the St. Louis skyline that glow with every sunrise.
Brett was a proud member of the MacRae Clan of Scotland and was a Lord of Glencoe. His circle of friends was endless and timeless; each having a unique and special meaning to him. He never met a stranger and talked often with his childhood friends, Missouri Outlaws, and BMX families.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Jewel Jones, and Frank and Geneva Dardeen; two uncles, Jack Dardeen and John Dardeen; and father-in-law Panteles Vlahavas.
Surviving and sorely missing him with heavy hearts are his loving wife and soul mate of 15 years, Joanna; his adoring daughters, Athena and Evangeline; parents, Bill and Carol Dardeen of Shiloh, Ill.;mother-in-law, Norma Vlahavas of Belleville, Ill.; three aunts, Laverne Dardeen of O'Fallon, Ill., Bonnie (Kevin) Bean of Eldorado, Ill., and Brenda (Doyle) Rister of Omaha, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Christina (Bob) Farmer of Shiloh, Ill., and Sophia (Bob) Powers of Fairview Heights, Ill.; a brother-in-law, John (Jenn) Vlahavas of Chicago, Ill.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and too many friends to count.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Brett Dardeen Memorial Fund at Scott Credit Union for Athena and Evangeline.
