Brian E. Westerfield, 47, of Freeburg, Ill., formerly of Decatur, Ill., born June 20, 1969 in Decatur, Ill., died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, near Glen Carbon, Ill., as the result of a tractor-trailer accident.
Brian was a well respected truck driver in the industry, currently driving for Jung Transport LLC in Mascoutah, Ill. He was a huge NASCAR fan, an avid boater, and a devoted husband, son, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Westerfield; a brother, Aaron Westerfield; a niece, Makaila Westerfield; two nephews, Todd Schroat and Timothy Westerfield; his step-grandfather, Murry Clarke; and a sister-in-law, Jennifer Westerfield.
Surviving are his loving wife, Dawn, nee Grodzicki, Westerfield, whom he married on Aug. 12, 2012; his mother, Linda, nee Wright, (Paul) Miner of Mt. Zion, Ill.; a daughter, Jessica, nee Schmaltz, (Zachary) Travis of Washington; a son, Zachary Westerfield of Germany; maternal grandparents, Roy and Ida Wright; paternal grandparents, Richard and Ruth Westerfield; two stepdaughters, Kori Grodzicki of West Frankfort, Ill., and Anna Parnell of Marissa, Ill.; five grandchildren, Lucas, Kaleb, Brendon, Addison and Triston; three brothers, Brad (Toni) Westerfield of Mt. Zion, Ill., Jason Westerfield of Mt. Zion, Ill., and Chris (Heather) Westerfield of Decatur, Ill.; three sisters, Lisa Bundy of Clinton, Ill., Melissa (Nate) Riggs of Mt. Zion, Ill., and Juliane Westerfield of Mt. Zion, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
