Caitlin Kirschenman, 27, of Belleville, Ill., born Feb. 23, 1985, in Yankton, S.D., died Friday, June 15, 2012, in Pittsfield, Ill., following a tragic ATV accident.
Caitlin graduated from O'Fallon Township High School in 2003 and also graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Ill., in 2009. She was an assistant teacher at Lighthouse Child Care in Cahokia, Ill., and was active with Wildlife Rescue in St. Charles, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Joyce and Elton Kirschenman and Marjorie and Jim Burns.
Caitlin is survived by a daughter, Lyla Thompson of Belleville, Ill.; parents, Jim and Kathy, nee Long, Burns of Lebanon, Tenn; three brothers, Jeremy (Misty) Kirschenman of Brighton, Colo., Matthew Kirschenman of Lebanon, Tenn., Noah Burns of Lebanon, Tenn.; maternal grandparents, Roger and Janis Long of Yankton, S.D.; an aunt, Julie (Mark) Neilsen of Yankton, S.D., biological father, Curt (Cindy) Kirschenman of Albuquerque, N.M.; stepbrothers and stepsister, Brett Johrdal, Nathan Johrdal and Bethany Johrdal; boyfriend, Tom Dhure of Granite City, Ill., dear friends, Julie Stroh and Amber Bolich, both of O'Fallon, Ill.; and many other dear and special friends and extended family.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, and from 7 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Schildknecht Funeral Home, O'Fallon, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the funeral home with Bishop Geoffrey V. Dudley Sr. officiating. Cremation will follow all services.
