Carmen E. Hoffman, 97, of Palatine, Ill., formerly of Granite City, Ill., born February 24, 1918, in Tilden, Ill., passed away Monday, January 11, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center in Inverness, Ill.
On June 6, 1937, Carmen married Eugene Hoffman, the love of her life. Carmen was a former member of St. John United Church of Christ in Granite City, Ill. She enjoyed reading and was an avid quilter. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Carmen loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Hoffman; her parents, Ezra and Eloda, nee Rennison, Taylor; her brother, Walter Taylor; her sister, Flora Seele; and two stepsisters, Martha Jones and Belle Hurst.
Surviving are her loving daughter and son-in-law, Gerry and Ronald Hilicki Sr., of Palatine, Ill.; proud grandmother to Ronald and Julie Hilicki Jr., of Glen Allen, Va., and Michael and Kathy Hilicki of Morton Grove, Ill.; proud great-grandmother to Corinne, Rheanna and Eleni.

Visitation: Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, January 18, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: In celebration of her life, funeral services will be held at noon Monday, January 18, 2016, at the funeral home with Rev. Karla Frost officiating. Carmen will be laid to rest next to Eugene at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, Ill.
